What is a mimir?

Mimir is a figure in Norse mythology, who is depicted as a wise and knowledgeable being. He is also known as Mimir the Wise, and is often associated with the well of wisdom, which is said to be located beneath the roots of the World Tree, Yggdrasil. According to the myth, the god Odin sought Mimir's wisdom and knowledge by sacrificing his eye to drink from the well.
